Demonstration is held to urge the hiring of more African-American employees.

Organized by William Monroe Trotter, the demonstration is the first in which Melnea Cass ever participates. It is held to call on both African-American business owners in the Dudley Street and Northampton Street areas and the white business owners in downtown department stores to increase their hiring of minorities.
